Villa for 6 people in Altea

Hidden bohemian chic villa in La Olla with private pool

This house is a rare find. Located in one of the most wanted areas of Altea, it is only 700 meters from the beach of La Olla and near the center of Altea. La Olla is a quiet area of Altea right by the beach with a particular village-feel to it. There are cafes and shops at walking distance but the residential area is quiet. While very centrally located, the house itself is secluded with a private comfortable terrace with sea views and a large lush garden surrounding a private pool. A bit like being in the country side with all the benefits Altea has on offer at walking distance.

The first thing that's noticable when you enter the house are the high beamed ceilings in the living room, giving the place a spacious feel. The living room in comfortably decorated and has an fully equipped open kitchen and wooden doors opening up to the patio with sea view. In the back of the house you will find three spacious bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The whole century old house has recently been renovated retaining the original wooden and tile features.

Central Altea is about a mile away which can easily be done on foot, but also there's a small tram that travels between Calpe and Alicante which passes through la Olla and is very convenient for hopping on to Altea downtown, Benidorm or one other of the seaside villages. The tram stops behind the house which makes it easy to get around while still ( it's a quiet stop) it does not disrupt the tranquility of the place.

The property is extremely comfortable, well maintained and is located in an excellent position. Our rental period was during the winter months and we found the underfloor heating to be very efficient. The good weather allowed us to take advantage of a lovely outside seating area with views of the sea and we also enjoyed watching the garden develop as spring approached. Our hosts were friendly, available when required and were very helpfull throughout the booking process, our arrival and assisted us with any enquiries we had during our stay. We would definitely return. The only part of the questionnaire we didn´t award 10 was for the bed linen and towels, which although adequate, did not reflect the other high standards. 9.8

This is a wonderfull property in a superb location. Our only reservation before we arrived was the proximity of the tram station, next to the house. We had some initial concerns regarding noise and privacy, which turned out to be unfounded. Having access to public transport, opens up access to Denia to the north and Alicante and beyond to the south and reduces the need for car hire, although there is adequate space for parking outside the property. Trams run every hour in each direction and do not run through the night. Altea is 5 minutes away by tram and Calpe is about 10 minutes away. The beach is a ten minute walk away, where there is a selection of very good bars, restaurants and chiringuitos. There is a general store about 15 minutes walk from the house, providing everything needed for your stay. The house itself is very comfortable with a very large, private, well established and beautiful garden, swimming pool and sea views in the distance. It has everything required fo 9.8

    General information about Altea

Altea - Costa Blanca - Spain Altea, with almost 20.000 inhabitants, stretches a surface of 34.4 square kilometres and is built on a hill of the Costa Blanca. The fabulous basilica with its resplendent blue domes, graciously crowns the top of the mountain. Built onto the hillside, the old town centre with its many narrow streets and alleys, has become home to many an artist and contains many cosy, characteristic restaurants and bistros. Tourism, having increased significantly on the Costa Blanca from the 1950s onward because of Alteas Mediterranean climate, child-friendly beaches, and characteristic downtown area, is a main means of livelihood for the town and its people.

    History of Altea

Moros y Cristianos in Altea - Costa Blanca - Spain Old centre of Altea - Costa Blanca - Spain Alteas history goes back many centuries and is characterised by the manifold civilisations that have passed Altea on their way along the course of time. Iberians, Fenicians, Muslims, Greeks, and Romans have all left their marks. It appears that the name Altea is also of Greek origin, as it is thought to have come from the Greek word Altahia, meaning `I heal. Since the town is located at the mouth of the Algar river (meaning 'the river of health'), historians assume that in the old days Altea was a hamlet with strategic, medical, and beneficial value.

This church was built on the hill and stretches high above the historical downtown area. Here you will also find a labyrinth of paved streets and flights of stairs well worth a visit. You are treated to special views looking down the scenic streets and coastline, and absorbing the interesting and beautiful spots of Altea.

Little bays and beaches follow in succession from the Barranco del Mascarat up to the pier marking the border with L'Alfs del Pi. Near the old town centre lies the Playa de la Roda beach, while the biggest beach, Cap Blanch, can be found a little further to the south, merging seamlessly with the Albir beach. Further north lies the Playa de Cap Negret beach, a pebble beach with at its end a small inlet with black rocks named Cala del Soio. Another beach favourite is L´Olla, situated right across from its namesake island. Altea's borders are marked by the mountain peak Mascarat and the Sierra de Bernia, where one will find inlets with small pebble beaches such as La Barreta, La Solsida, and La Galera.
